Anne Beth Blackmon passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, in Fort Worth.Anne Blackmon was born June 1, 1924, in Weatherford, to William Wythe and Hattie Lois Spann Roberts. She graduated from Weatherford High School in 1939 and Texas Woman's University in 1942 with honors, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Kappa society. After graduating, Anne enjoyed teaching in several cities throughout Texas. She moved to Knoxville, Tenn., in 1947 where she taught at the University of Tennessee. She married Lawrence William Blackmon in 1948 and returned to Fort Worth. She was very active in Texas politics, especially when her late husband was the campaign manager for Lyndon B. Johnson's 1960 bid for the presidential nomination. For many years, in all of Larry's political involvements, Anne always stood never in his shadow but always by his side. She was a member of the Fort Worth Woman's Club and a past president of Chapter CH, PEO. Anne was always willing to take a leadership role in the many organizations that were an important part of her life. She was also a member of University Christian Church. She was a woman of deep and abiding faith. Anne dearly loved her daughter and son-in-law. She was devoted to her grandsons, cherished her great-granddaughter and was loved by all of her extended family. Her love for her family, friends and church stands as a testament to her life. Our special appreciation goes to all her caregivers who have helped her over the years. Anne was preceded in death by her parents and brother, William Wythe Roberts. Survivors: Daughter, Kathryn and husband, Wayne Cornelius, of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Brian Cornelius and his wife, Mary Helen, Jeffrey Cornelius and his wife, Abbie; great-granddaughter, Caroline Cornelius, all of Fort Worth; sister-in-law, Mary Roberts of Weatherford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will be held at noon Saturday at University Christian Church in Fort Worth.Memorials: Her memory may be honored with a gift to Chapter CH
