Byron was born in Lawton, Oklahoma to the late Ray Rice and Adgy Bard Rice on December 13, 1932. He grew up with his sister, Linda. After high school, Byron attended the University of Oklahoma where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. He married the love of his life, Della Marie Lewis and together they had two children, Derrick and Stephen. In 1975 they became official residents of Parker County. In 1982 they opened Big Pantry which became a local hot spot in Weatherford. Byron and his wife were very involved in the community. Byron was also very involved in Boy Scouts and gave back a lot of time to the local Scouting community. He attended Central Christian Church with his family and was active in the Friendship Sunday School Class. He made a huge impact on the Parker County Community and for that we are forever grateful.
Byron was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Rice and Adgy Bard Rice, and sister, Linda.
Survivors include sons, Stephen Rice and Derrick Rice of Weatherford; daughter in law, Sara Rice of Weatherford; grandchildren, Lola Rice and Joaquin Rice; and a host of church family and friends.
