Jefferson Lane, age 81, passed from this life Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at a local hospital. Jeff was born February 15, 1938 in Morganton, NC to Jefferson and Lillie Parker Lane. Shortly after marrying his wife of sixty years Marjorie, he left the Air Force and they settled down to raise their family in Weatherford. He was a US Air Force Veteran having worked as lead mechanic on jet bombers. He retired from Bell Helicopter in 2006 after 42 years where he worked as a Bonding Inspector. He worked on the V-22 Osprey from inception to inaugural flight making sure the new tilt rotor blades would not fail our military forces. Our Pop unselfishly made the daily 90-mile commute to Bell so his three sons could be raised in what at the time was a very small town of Weatherford. Jeff loved drawing, was a NASCAR fan, was an avid fisherman making some of his own custom lures, if you had a few hours he could tell you a fishing story or two. He was a longtime member of the North Side Baptist Church where he drove the first bus the church owned toting youth groups to functions all across the state.
Jeff is survived by his Wife, Marjorie Lane of Weatherford, Sons, Gregg Lane of Weatherford, Joel Lane of Weatherford, Colin Lane and wife Melissa of Euless, 3 Grandchildren, Brant, Allison, Meagan, and numerous other family and friends.
Memorial Service and reception with family and friends will be 3:00 - 5:00 pm. Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the North Side Baptist Church in the Community Life Center.
