Kathleen Aweata Hornbeck

July 8, 1926 — March 21, 2015

Kathleen Hornbeck went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 21,2015. She was 88. Mrs. Hornbeck was born on July 8, 1926 in Eldorado, Arkansas to Hazel and Edwin Covington and was an only child.  She married Andrew Cornelius Hornbeck on December 2, 1949. She and Andy knew each other their entire lives and together raised 6 children; Greg, Lloyd, Chrissie, Karen, and the twins, Janet and Janice.  In 1988, Kathleen and Andy retired and moved to Saline Lake near Winnfield, LA. There she and Andy were very involved in their church and had many friends. Kathleen was a very artistic person. She loved to paint, quilt, work in the flowerbeds, and spent time with her family and friends. She even painted the mural in the baptistery at Lakeside Baptist Church in Winnfield, La.  Once her husband became ill, they moved to Weatherford to be near the children. There Mrs. Hornbeck found another church home at Santa Fe Baptist Church in which she made many friends and worked to serve the Lord. Kathleen Hornbeck is survived by five children and their spouses: Greg and Annette Krone, Chris and Junior Vankirk, all of Weatherford, TX; Karen Hornbeck of Bedford, TX; Janice Daulton of Arlington, TX, and Janet and Dwayne Henry of Woodstock, Ga; 12 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
 

Visitation will be Monday, March 23, 2015 at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Home from 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held at Santa Fe Baptist Church at 1502 Santa Fe Drive, Weatherford, TX on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 10 am. Graveside service will be at Laurel Land Cemetery in Crowley, TX at 1:30 pm.
