Larry Don Corley

  Larry Don Corley, 73, of Springtown, Texas, passed away on April 6, 2022, from complications of cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Christine Corley. 

  He is survived by his siblings, Brenda Tidwell, Mary Morrow, and Jack and Davis Corley, as well as his loving wife, Joan Kelley Corley; his children, Shannon Corley Cunningham and husband, Glenn, Kenneth Corley and wife, Amy, and Scott Corley and wife, Ashley; his seven grandchildren, his brothers- and sisters-in-law, James Arnold Tidwell, Jim Morrow, and Eileen and Glenda Corley; as well as scores of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.

  Larry will be remembered and honored by his wife, Joan, of 44 years his children, Shannon, Kenneth, and Scott, and everyone family or otherwise who had the privilege to know him. He will always be Grandpa to his seven grandchildren, Noah, Abigail, and Ruby Cunningham, Lorelai and Avery Corley, and Josephine and Juliette Corley.

  He was born July 10, 1948, to Jack and Christine Corley of Tennyson, Texas, the fourth of their five children. He graduated from Bronte High School, Bronte Texas in 1966. He attended North Texas State University and San Angelo State University prior to enlisting in the United States Army where he served from 1967-1970. After his term of service he studied accounting at the University of Houston where he earned his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. 

  Known as a Jack-of-all-trades, he was a man of many talents, and surprising interests. After graduating college he worked for such varied companies as Imco Services, Bell Helicopter, UrCarCo, Birdville Independent School District, and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. He was a small business owner, studied real estate and the stock market, and still managed to watch his children full-time while his wife worked full time for government contractors.

  Larry was a devoted Christian with a servant’s heart. He will be greatly missed. 

  Funeral Services will be held at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086, on Saturday, April 16, at 11:00 a.m., following a viewing on Friday April 15, at 6:00 p.m. He will be interred at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, on April 29th, at 1:00 p.m.
