On February 9, 2023, Linda Darlene Maddox’s journey on Earth ended and her dance in Heaven began. She valiantly fought her battle with cancer. Linda was born on May 23, 1952, to William and Beatrice Weingartner in Midwest City, OK where she grew up and graduated high school.
On April 10,1972, Linda married the love of her life, James Maddox. With a U-Haul hitched to an El Camino they headed west to Colorado. Jim and Linda settled in the Glenwood Springs area where they had 4 children. They lived in Colorado for 10 years and then moved to the Weatherford, TX area where they built a successful business. Linda was an immaculate bookkeeper and poured her heart into building their business together! Jim and Linda loved getting away to a beach somewhere and enjoying time in the sun! In her later years, she attended as many Mo Pitney concerts as she could.
Linda was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, and aunt who spent as much time with her family as she could. She was an exceptional mother of 6 adoring children, Jonanna, Wayne, Jimmie, Jodi, Justin, and Jessica. Linda loved her children fiercely and taught them how to selflessly serve others. She was also an incredibly proud Grammy to 23 beautiful grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren! Grammy loved each grandchild uniquely and shared many of her gifts with them. Her grandchildren considered her THE FAMILY JEWEL!
Linda’s cooking was legendary! It didn’t matter who you were, if you walked in her doors, she fed you; if she heard that you were sick, she cooked a healing pot of soup for you; if you had a baby, she lovingly prepared a fantastic meal for the new momma and family! There was nothing like Linda’s cooking, just ask Jim, who wasn’t much for eating anything BUT what she cooked!
Linda’s heart was the size of Texas and everyone who was blessed to encounter her was touched by her precious spirit. She was known as ‘Sweet Linda’ in her community. She loved her wild birds and one of her favorite four-legged critters was the horny toad! Linda’s life was defined by her love of Jesus. She lived and walked with Him daily. Linda was a true treasure and like a rock skipped across the river, the ripples of Linda’s life touched everyone in her path.
