Alan Bennett Cornish

January 14, 1933 — January 27, 2009

Alan Bennett Cornish of Weatherford, Texas 76, returned home to his Heavenly Father on January 27, 2009. Alan was born Jan 14, 1933 in Houston, Texas he was the second child of Murl Clinton Cornish and Ever Mary Barclay Cornish. Alan was raised in Fort Worth, where he graduated from Arlington Heights High school in1951. Alan was known for his singing, in church, school and the community. Alan gave up his musical scholarship when he joined the Navy in 1951-1956 for the Korean War. He also served from 1963‑1966 in the Vietnam War. Alan attended University of Texas at Arlington, and Weber State College in Ogden, Utah. He retired from law enforcement in 1995. Alan enjoyed his family, gardening, cooking, and tending to his chickens and pets. Alan married Merle Goodey on April 18, 1973 in Grand Prairie, TX, and then was sealed for Time & Eternity in the Dallas LDS Temple on April 18, 1985. Alan was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors: Wife, Merle of 35 years, daughters; Marlene (Dan) Kammerdiener, Waco, TX; Allison (Michael) Rudolph, Tyler, TX; Ashley (Jeremy) Rhodes, Weatherford, TX , two grandchildren Aylah & Ashli, one Brother; James C Cornish, Fort Worth, TX and many nephews and nieces.

Funeral service will be 7:30 PM Thursday January 29, 2009 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Burial will be Friday at 10:00 AM at DFW National Cemetery.
