Albert Ray Wallace, 83, of Weatherford, Texas, passed away on December 13, 2024. Born on September 20, 1941, in Cleburne, Texas, he was the eldest of five siblings, the beloved son of Chester and Ina Mae Wallace.
A lifelong resident of Weatherford, Albert graduated from Weatherford High School and dedicated 50 remarkable years to security at General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin. His commitment was unparalleled; he holds the record for the longest security tenure at Lockheed without missing a single scheduled workday—a testament to his work ethic and reliability. Albert often arrived at work an hour early and regularly covered additional shifts to support his colleagues, taking only one day off in 12 years “just because.” He believed, “if a man gave you a job, then you went to work and did your job.”
Upon his retirement, Albert was celebrated with a Special Retirement Party attended by executives, colleagues, and friends, all expressing deep gratitude for his exemplary service, which included numerous accolades and testimonies and a commemorative diamond ring. If you worked at Lockheed Martin, you likely knew Albert.
In 1962, Albert married the love of his life, Joyce, and together they shared 62 wonderful years. They raised two sons, Mike and Tim, and shared a passion for travel, forming lifelong friendships across the globe. Albert had a unique gift for sharpening knives and enjoyed woodworking in his shop. A lover of Westerns, he also delighted in sharing jokes and dancing. While he could be hard-headed and cantankerous at times, those who knew him understood that this was part of who he was.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Wallace; and granddaughter, Kristin Wallace.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Joyce; sons, Mike Wallace of Midland and Tim Wallace of Fredericksburg; and his adopted son, Mark Dennis of Weatherford. He took great pride in his grandchildren, Dayln Dabney, Matti Henderson, Ryan Wallace, Brandon Wallace, Logan Wallace, Makynna Wallace, and Justin Wallace; as well as his great-grandchildren, Corbin Reat, Guhnar Hillman, Holt, and Hayes Henderson. Albert is also survived by his siblings, Patsy Simms of Arlington, and Jimmie Wallace and Mike Wallace of Weatherford; along with his adopted family, the Douglas family from Southampton, England, and Shane McTaggart of Seattle via Australia; and devoted neighbors, Lee and Yvonne Salcido.
