Alfred Miller Green Sr., 79, of Weatherford passed away Friday, May 30, 2014. Alfred was born October 2, 1934, in Rosebud Texas, one of four children, to Francis Lucille Miller and Ira Guy Green.

Mr. Green was a retired Staff Sargent of the U.S. Air Force. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot and gunner. He was later stationed in San Antonio as a military policeman.

Beloved husband of Amy G. Green, they were married 53 years before she passed away June 27, 2007. He was affectionately known as Papa to most who knew him.

Survivors include six children, Butch Green and wife, Virginia of Greencastle Indiana, Tim Green of Weatherford, Kenneth Green and wife, Rita of Weatherford, Marie Knowles and husband, Ray of Weatherford, Amy Jeannette Mercer and husband, Dale of Brownwood, and Dametria Green and Ryan Callaway of Austin; nine grandchildren and seventeen great  grandchildren; one brother, Foy L. Green and wife, Maxine of Belton; two sisters, Margarite Bolen and husband, Gene (deceased) of Garden Grove California, and Dottie Phillips and husband, Charles (deceased) of Nebraska; and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

The family would like to express special thanks to Regina, Amy, Gary and Scott of Hospice Plus who took such loving care of Alfred.  And thanks to the great people of Santa Fe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center who cared for Alfred the last week of his life.

A funeral will be at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
