Alice May Griffin

February 12, 1924 — February 27, 2008

Alice May Griffin, age 84, of Weatherford, died on Wednesday afternoon, February 27, 2008, in a local nursing center. Born February 12, 1924, in the Fox Community, in Parker County, where she had lived all her life. 

She was a homemaker, owner of Griffin Cleaners for 35 years and she was a member of the Church of God since the age of 18. She was crowned Valentine Queen for 2008 at Keenland Nursing Center. 

Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Griffin and a son, Ira Ray Sutton. Survivors: son, Joseph Edward Sutton and wife, Vickie, of Weatherford; daughters, Joy Elizabeth Hummer of Harpswell, Maine, and Amber Kay Shipman of The Colony; daughter-in-law, Joan Sutton of Weatherford; 8 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren; sisters, Dessie Mims of Crowley, and Winnie Beauchamp of Grand Junction, Colorado; very special friends and caregivers, Robert Deal and wife, Rebekah; and numerous other friends and relatives.     

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 29, 2008, in the East Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, February 28, 2008, at the funeral home.
