Amy Young Walker, 49, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 10, 2015 at her home north of Garner, Texas in the Bethesda Community. Amy Young was born on June 28, 1966 in Weatherford, Texas to Andrew Young of Millsap, Texas and Nelda Colley née Coalson of Bethesda, Texas. She was the second of four children. Amy grew up on a farm in Millsap, Texas where she developed a deep love of family and country living. While in school at Millsap, Amy was a fantastic basketball player, a football trainer, a cheerleader, a member of the Beta Club, and a devoted friend to her classmates. In 1989 Amy married Kenneth “Kinny” Walker of Mineral Wells, Texas. She and Kinny shared many common interests and love for life. In 1992 Amy and Kinny’s son Ethan was born. This was the start of Amy’s greatest joy, being a mother. Adding to that joy, Eli arrived in 1993. Amy poured herself into being a wife and a mother. She coached little league baseball and basketball, volunteered at her sons’ school, and provided a loving home. In 2001 Amy faced a series of health issues that would challenge the remainder of her life. Amy made peace with this through her strong faith in God, with the support of her family and friends, and through Kinny’s steadfast love. Amy’s goal was to raise her sons and provide them with a loving home; mission accomplished. Ethan, who graduated from Texas A&M University in 2014, is now 23 and a graduate student at Texas Tech University, and Eli is 22 and will graduate from Texas A&M in May. Ethan and Eli are kind, loving and successful young men. They are truly a reflection of Amy and her love. Amy is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Kenneth Walker, sons Ethan Walker and Eli Walker, mother, Nelda Colley and husband Les of Hooks, father, Andrew Young of Millsap, brother, Mark Young and wife Cherish of Weatherford, sisters Andrea Priest and husband Tony of Crane, and Melissa Young of Weatherford. Nieces, Alyssa, Tara and Jenna Priest, and Emily Young, Nephews Will Young and Noah Young. Grandmother Hazel Coalson, and many other loving cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
