ARTHUR W. (Art) AUTHIER, 86, of Weatherford, Texas passed away on 29th day, of October, 2016 in Fort Worth. Funeral service: 10 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Aledo United Methodist Church with interment to follow at 2:15 p.m. at DFW National Cemetery. Born in New York City, on June 2, 1930. Art was retired from Lockheed Engineering & Sciences Company as a Project Manager serving for 20 years with various engineering projects and management support roles to NASA Johnson Space Center. Prior to joining Lockheed, he served for 22 years in the U.S. Air Force retiring as a Major. After 9 years enlisted service, he was commissioned and received his navigator rating. Upon retirement, Art moved to Canyon Lake where he was active in the Canyon Lake United Methodist Church serving as Finance Chair, website creator, two time President and numerous years as Secretary/Treasurer of the UMM, Lay Leader and Secretary/Treasurer of the Sonshine Emmaus Community, Conference Lay Delegate, Advertising and Communications Chair, Children's Church Leader and several other roles. He also served as a McKenna Hospital volunteer, CLAC Director and Treasurer, CROP Walk Treasurer, and Director and Treasurer of the Village Shores POA. He later relocated to Sun City in Georgetown, Texas where he assumed leadership roles with the Georgetown First United Methodist Church and throughout the community. Art and his wife, Maryalice , later moved to Weatherford, Texas to be close to family members where he continued his benevolent work whenever possible at Aledo United Methodist Church. He received his BS from Texas Wesleyan College. He received his MBA from the University of Houston at Clear Lake City. He is preceded in the death by his mother, Dorothy, and a brother, William. He is survived by his wife Maryalice (Micki) of 63 years, four sons, Kenneth, Richard, Russell, and Stephen, five grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew, Michael Ryan, and Ashley and six great-grandchildren.
