Barbara Lee Watson

Barbara Lee Watson (née Dixon), 79, of Weatherford, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 29th, 2022, after a brief, hard-fought battle with cancer on what would have been her 65th wedding anniversary to her beloved husband, James Arron Watson. Barbara was born on September 5th, 1943, in Columbus, Georgia, to parents, Benjamin Franklin Dixon and Vithie Pauline Dixon Skiles (née Smithey). She was a long-time resident of Weatherford where she spent much of her life as a homemaker while working occasional odd and end jobs. Together, she and James raised two sons, Lonnie Ray Watson and Donnie Eugene Watson, until they retired in Brock.

Barbara was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary, and a pretty great dancer in her younger days. She had quite the green thumb and could grow just about any flower, especially roses. James called them all weeds. Always an animal lover, Barbara was never too far away from her dogs, and leaves behind her furry companion, Skippy.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, James; son, Donnie; mother, Vithie Pauline; father, Benjamin Franklin; siblings, Marie, Bonnie, and Ben; and daughter in law, Robin Holsinger Watson.

She is survived by her son, Lonnie Watson and wife, Peggy; grandchildren, Ashlee Arroyo and wife, Rachael, Josh Watson and wife, Lynden, Shaleinna Watson, Donny Watson, and Houston Watson; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Wyatt, Waylon, Jude, Jeremiah, Makayla, Makenzie, Sierra, Abel, and Alexis; great-great grandchildren, Alexander and Aurora; nieces, Brenda Parker and Linda Freeman; sisters in law, Mildred Langley, Sylvia Watson, and Marilyn Watson; and numerous other extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Weatherford Parker County Animal Shelter.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 5th, 2022, at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 5600 US 180 West, Weatherford, Texas 76088.

The family will receive friends during a visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday, December 3rd, 2022, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086.
