Berry Farris Smith

Berry Farris Smith, 81, of Poolville, passed from this life on Friday afternoon, November 30, 2018, in Weatherford.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 2 P.M., on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, in Weatherford. Burial will follow at Lone Star Cemetery in Poolville. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6 until 8 P.M., at Oak Tree Baptist Church, 513 Seaberry Ave., in Poolville.

Berry was born on March 28, 1937, in Fort Worth to Leslie and Bertie Smith. He was raised in Benbrook and was a 1957 Graduate of Tremble Tech High School. Berry married his high school sweetheart, Wanell Howard, on August 10, 1957. Berry will be remembered as a ‘hard worker’ who loved working outdoors – particularly on his ranch. He was a 50 Year Ridglea Masonic Lodge #1341 and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #999. Berry was a devout Christian and long-time member and deacon of Oak Tree Baptist Church in Poolville. Most of all, Berry will be remembered for devoting his life to his family – particularly spending time with his grandchildren.

Berry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Wanell Howard Smith; his daughters, Donna Ann Kirkpatrick and husband Barry and Dorothy Ladell Hines and husband, Jimmy; his grandchildren, Krayton and wife Lisa Kirkpatrick, Cameron and wife Kaleigh Kirkpatrick, Bethany and husband Todd Murphy, Allison and husband Thomas Cargill, and Cade Hines; great-grandchildren, Kinley, Braylee, Kennedy, Kalan, and Landry; his brother, Starks and wife Odessa Smith; his nephews, Paul and David Smith; and by his special cousin, Alan Smith.

In addition to his parents, Berry was preceded in death by his siblings, L.E. Smith and Serena Walker.
