Betty Inez Mullens-Yarborough

February 17, 1918 — January 2, 2010

Betty Inez Mullens Yarborough went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 2, 2010.  Inez was born to Matilda Robinson and Claude Mullens on February 17, 1918 in Cisco, Texas.  She is survived by her loving younger sisters Kathleen Wright of Moscow, Idaho, Ruby Faye Smith of Texas City, Texas, Claudene Barber of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and preceded in death by their older brother Marcus Glenn Mullens.  Inez, lovingly referred to by her family and loved ones as “Ninny”, grew up during the Great Depression in Hamlin, Texas and would later move to Flo, Texas in her teenage years where she would meet and marry, Woodrow Wilson Yarborough on June 30th, 1937.  Inez and Woodrow, who in 1985 preceded Inez in death, had just begun their life together when WWII would take them in new and unexpected directions.  While the men of our country, including Woodrow, were being drafted into the war effort, Inez like many women of the times were stepping into the work force to continue to support our country at the home front.  During this time, Inez became a certified tool designer and worked for Consolidated, later to become Lockheed, as a tool designer until she left the area to be with Woodrow who was stationed in Oregon.  Inez and Woodrow would settle down in Weatherford, Texas in 1945 before the birth of their only child, Darla Ann Caughman.  In the 1950’s, Inez and Woodrow, would begin Weatherford’s first ready mix plant, Weatherford Sand and Gravel, and in the late 1960’s would be the owners of the popular café “Red Barn”. Inez worked and retired from Safeway Food Stores.  She was a longtime member of Calvary Methodist Church. Inez Yarborough was the quiet matriarch that always supported those around her. She will be greatly missed by her sisters and brother-in-laws, daughter and son-in- law, 3 granddaughters and their spouses, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  She was loved by all who knew her. Funeral Services will be held at Calvary Methodist Church at 10:00am on Wednesday, January 6, 2010.  Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel.
