Betty Jean Pitcher

December 16, 1927 — May 21, 2020

Betty Jean Pitcher, age 92, of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2020. Betty was born on December 16, 1927 in Blue Island, Illinois to Robert and Clara Bauer. She met and married Wayne Pitcher when they both worked for the Rock Island Railroad in Chicago, IL and celebrated 61 years together. They moved to Normal, IL where her children, Neal and Cheryl, were born and she became the consummate homemaker, always caring for her family first. While Betty and Wayne spent much of their lives traveling, retirement took them to Fairhope, AL, where she was involved with Zion Lutheran Church of Silverhill, Alabama, and enjoyed playing Bunco with her friends. Her neighbors could always see her caring for her yard, and she loved spending time with her family.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne.

She is survived by her son, Neal Pitcher (Suzanne) of Elgin, Illinois, her daughter, Cheryl Schneider (Glenn) of Grapevine, Texas, grandchildren, Kristin Twillie (Troy) and Julie Schneider, great grandchild, Devyn, and brothers, Richard and William Bauer, both of Blue Island, Illinois. Services will be held at a later date at the Zion Lutheran Church. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Betty’s memory to Zion Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 266, Silverhill, AL 36576.
