Betty Jo Murphy

Betty Jo Murphy went to be with her Lord at 3:56 p.m., on September 2, 2021, at Heart-to-Heart Hospice Facility. She was born on January 22, 1928, in Crockett, Texas, to Robert Claude and Mada Estelle Dickey. She was one of eight children. She married the love of her life, Hugh Wayne Murphy, on December 12, 1945, and together they ran Murphy’s Peaches in Weatherford for many years. Betty was also a bookkeeper at Greene’s Florist for a couple of years. She was a lifetime member of the Bethel Harmony extension club and a valued member of Harmony Baptist Church. 

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Hugh Wayne Murphy. 

She is survived by her children, Hugh Wayne Murphy, Jr. and wife, Beth, and Cynthia Smith and husband, Danny; eighteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Betty also had many friends she adopted as her own, they considered her their grandmother. She was cherished and loved by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday September 6, 2021, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
