Betty June Holland Wilson Smylie, 88, Weatherford, formerly of
Magnolia, Mississippi, joined her husband and went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday afternoon, May 14, in Weatherford
Local funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 6:30 P.M., at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, in Weatherford. Visitation will begin at 5 P.M., at the funeral home. Funeral services will also be held in Magnolia, Mississippi, on Monday, May 20.
Betty was born the first of two identical twins on December 5, 1930 to Mary and Lee Holland. She graduated from LaGrange High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana and went on to a business school to become a bookkeeper. Betty married Lloyd Wilson in April 1953 and together had two children. A devout Christian, she was active in Calvary Baptist Church holding various offices for many years. Betty will be remembered as being a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend. Her greatest legacy is the passing on of her love of Jesus, and her love of books, “good” music, and singing. Her greatest wish is that everyone she knew would come to know the love of Jesus as their personal Savior and Friend.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Wanda Henley of Weatherford; her twin sister, Bobby Royer; sister, Gloria Marceaux; brother-in-law, CM Wilson; sisters-in-laws, Gail Wilson and Wilma Ammons; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends; and by her “grand-dogs” Belle and Aries.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Raymond Lloyd Wilson; her husband, Lloyd J. Wilson; husband, Dewittt Smylie; her brother, LJ Holland; and by her much-loved mother-in-law; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and by many of her friends.
