Bettye Jean George, age 75, of Weatherford, died on Monday, March 7, 2011 in Harris Methodist Hospital. Born January 4, 1936 in Dallas, Texas, a resident of Weatherford for many years. Bettye was a retired LVN after working ten years in Campbell Memorial Hospital, two years at a local nursing facility, four years with a pediatrician and for many years she worked for Dr. David Reeve. She was member of the Mt Olive Baptist Church in Arlington and she loved gardening and walking. Being involved with Raymond in the raising of their six children, they always presented a united front in making decisions. Raymond and Bettye received Parker County Great American Family Award in 1990. She supported or participated in Big Brother, Big Sister, Happy Hills Farm of Underprivileged, the Heart Association, Ambassador for Homeless, Board of Housing Authority, a Volunteer Meal on Wheels, New Member Committee at Mt. Olive, Deaconess, Breast Cancer Awareness Member. Also Bettye was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1954. She is survived by her Husband, Raymond George, of Weatherford; children, Rosiland (Lulu) George, Andrea (Red) Carrington and husband, Raul, Darwin (Bubba) George and wife, Rosalind, Anthony (Tony) George and wife, Carlisa, Scotty George and wife Crystal and Jennifer (J) Williams, and husband, Carl; sister, Delois George; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Friday, March 11, 2011 in the North Side Baptist Church with interment in East Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Bettye George Scholarship Nursing Fund, W. C. Foundation, 225 College Park Drive, Weatherford, Texas 76086.
