Bill Byron Thomas

Bill Byron Thomas, 84, of Weatherford, passed away Sunday November 15, 2009 at a local nursing home. Bill was born August 17, 1925 in Weatherford to Finis and Gertrude Thomas. He attended Weatherford High School, Weatherford College, and graduated from Texas Christian University with his Masters in education. During his 35 years in public education, he taught in Millsap and Glen Rose, was the Superintendent of Brock ISD for 19 years and the ICT Coordinator for Weatherford ISD for ten years.  Bill was a member of First Baptist Church of Weatherford, TSTA, NEA, and WRT. He enjoyed camping, traveling and his grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dorothy, daughter, Trudi Rust and husband Jeff of Fayettville, AR, grandson, Greg Rust and wife Claudia of Siloam Springs, AR, granddaughter, Jennifer Rust of Fayetteville, AR, sister-in-law, Frances Brown and husband Charles, and niece Phyllis Hobson and husband Brett, all of Weatherford. Funeral service will be held 10 AM Wednesday November 18, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Weatherford, interment will follow in East Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. The Thomas family asks that memorials in Bill’s name be made to the Gideons P.O.
