Billie D. (Bill) Shannon, Weatherford, Texas passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2010 after an extended illness. His remains will be cremated and placed in a niche along side of his wife’s ashes in Annetta Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel will make all arrangements.
Life is a brief journey here on earth down a path of a combination of our choice, God’s guidance and by chance and should be lived to the fullest since it only occurs once. Bill’s belief was that life is all about attitude and that a positive attitude, belief and trust in our Lord, Meeting adversity head on, accepting what we can not change and changing that which we can, would lead to positive outcomes.
Some of the many positives in Bill’s life were two fantastic parents, a loving wife, a wonderful family and two a superb and enjoyable careers (USAF 2 August 1963 – 1 November 1983; General Dynamics/Lockheed/Lockheed Martin 30 November 1983 – 1 May 2004). Bill was a Vietnam veteran serving at two major Air Command Headquarters during his career with overseas assignments. In Thailand, Vietnam and Germany; he specialized in helping define F-16 Support Equipment requirements for Foreign Military Sales countries for his final years with Lockheed Martin, 1991 – 2005.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 37 years in 2002 and his mother and father, Blanche and Earl Shannon.
Survivors include, sons, Raymond and Reynold, daughter, Rhonda, grandchildren and other family.
