Billie Jean Terry, 87, of Weatherford, passed away early October 5, 2015, at Hilltop Nursing and Rehab Center in Weatherford.
Billie Jean was born on June 11, 1928, in Marianna, Arkansas. She was one of six children born to James Franklin and Annie Casteel. She graduated from Lee County High School in 1946. In January 1947, she began a career with ‘Ma Bell Telephone’ which lasted over 40 years. Billie Jean married Norvall Terry on August 14, 1949 and together had two daughters. She was a long-time member of Northside Baptist Church in Weatherford. Billie Jean was actively involved in the Texas State Fireman’s and Fire Marshalls Association. Her husband served as President and Billie was President of the Auxiliary. Billie Jean served as past-president of the Telephone Pioneers of America and Evergreens Outreach through North Side Baptist Church. Most of all, Billie Jean cherished time spent with her family – particularly with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Billie Jean is survived by her daughters, Pam (Jim) Turpen of Ft. Worth and Sharon (Larry) Kimsey of Weatherford; 2 grandchildren, Jeff (Amy) Kimsey and Jaime (Gary) Sipes; and by four great-grandchildren, Hudson, Ryver, Aiden, and Aubrey.
In addition to her parents, Billie Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Norvell and by 5 siblings.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Thursday, October 8, 2015, at North Side Baptist Church, 910 N. Main Street, in Weatherford, with Pastor Van N. Houser officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 P.M. at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, in Weatherford.
