Bobby Dale Decker

September 23, 1946 — December 30, 2018

Bobby Dale Decker entered this world on Sunday, September 23, 1946. He was called home on Sunday, December 30, 2018, after a strong and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Bobby was a loving husband, father, and Papa who had a quick wit and contagious laugh.
During his life, Bobby acquired a bachelors and a master’s degree in Education. With these, he taught and coached in the public schools for 32 years. Basketball was his favorite, and coaching his son Toby was one of his career highlights. He coached in Weatherford, Burleson, Herford and other area schools, where he earned the illustrious name “Coach”. He retired from the hardwood courts in 2000. But, having a true love of the classroom and enjoying his students, Bobby did some long-term substitute assignments in Peaster and Millsap during his retirement. Retirement also meant the opportunity to enjoy some of his other loves, which included his Beefmaster herd and spending time with his family. One of his favorite ways to enjoy his family was vacationing to Mexico, where he took full advantage of the ocean breeze and his hammock, while enjoying his ever present cup of coffee. He and Bonnie worshipped at Central Christian Church and have passed their servant’s hearts on to their children and grandchildren.
Bobby was an active member of the Palo Pinto Soil and Water Conservation organization,
where he enjoyed many a breakfast with his fellow farmers. He also participated in the Texas
Retired Teachers Association and TSCRA.
Bobby was a man of few words, able to make a great impact with a short, meaningful comment or a heartfelt pat on the back. We will fondly remember his smile, his easy-going ways and his joy of friends and family.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Joyce and Sam Decker. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bonnie Decker; his son Toby and wife Amy, and their daughters Addy Bell and Raeley; his daughter, Jody, and her daughter, Brighton. He also leaves behind an aunt, several close cousins and friends who will all miss him dearly. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Central Christian Church Building Fund or the charity of your choice.
