Bobby (Bob) Dean Underwood, 85, of Weatherford, Texas, peacefully departed this world on September 5, 2024.

Born in Brady, Texas, on December 18, 1938, Bob was the youngest of Alice and Louie Underwood's two children. He spent his entire youth in Brady, Texas where he played cornerback for Brady High School’s football team, the Brady Bulldogs.

Bob graduated from Texas A&M in 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and continued his education at the University of Washington where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. He later went on to obtain his Master of Science degree in Meteorology from the University of Michigan. Bob was the first person in his family to attend and graduate college.

After college, Bob honorably served his country for 21 years in the United States Air Force and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Following his military career, Bob worked as a Software Test Engineer for General Dynamics, which later became Lockheed Martin. After his tenure with General Dynamics, he and his wife, Sherry, worked together as realtors before retiring for good.

Bob was preceded in death by both parents and nephew, Perry.

He is survived by his cherished wife, Sherry Underwood, and five children, Bobby D. Underwood, Jr., Tamara James, Rick Underwood, Joey Shephard, and Candice Nettles and her husband, Sam; six grandchildren, Chandler, Cameron, Braedyn, Brylee, Tate and Tyler; and three great-grandchildren, Rylend, Rylee, and Reid. He is also survived by his sister, Dee Sims of Rising Star, Texas, and her three remaining children, David, Shirley, and Roger.

When he was able, Bob enjoyed being outside, cleaning the pool, mowing the yard, washing and waxing his cars and repairing what needed repaired. His real passions were fishing, watching sports--particularly college football--and gambling at the casinos. He also liked to laugh out loud at his own, sometimes corny jokes, which the family always thought was hilarious.

Bob was extremely proud of his service to his country and being a military man. He was also proud of his affiliation with Texas A&M--he was definitely an Aggie for life. The numerous sweaters, blankets, t-shirts, sweats, socks and hats he collected through the years are proof of that.

Bob was loved dearly by his family and friends; all who knew him lead richer lives just for knowing him. He will be missed beyond words.
