Bonnie Jo Finch

April 3, 1937 — August 11, 2023

With family by her side, Bonnie Jo Finch departed peacefully from this life on Friday, August 11, 2023, at the age of 86.

Bonnie was a remarkable lady. She was a loving wife for 66 years to the late Douglas Finch, from their wedding day in March of 1955 until his passing; a nurturing mother to Darla Finch Henry and Steven D. Finch (Kim); and joyfully as grandmother to Cole Henry, Race Henry (Chelsea), Halee Finch-Zelt (Toby), and Sawyer D. Finch; and four great grandchildren, Charli and Griffin Henry, and Finlee and Emerson Zelt; numerous nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her parents, J. D. and Marcella Cummins Janes, to whom she was born on April 3, 1937, in Noodle Dome, Texas, and by her brothers, Richard and Norman Janes.

Graduating from Lubbock High School in 1955, Bonnie developed many sterling characteristics, such as determination and leadership. She and Douglas moved their family to Weatherford in 1966 when she was hired as Weatherford City Secretary. Among her many professional accomplishments, Bonnie was Business Manager at Weatherford College, Controller at Campbell Memorial Hospital, and then worked as an independent insurance agent. Bonnie enjoyed being involved in her local community; she served for over 25 years on the Board of Parker County Special Utilities (Water Board), was a United Way Parker County Board Member, as well as, a member of Palo Pinto Women's Investment Club.

Bonnie sought out opportunities to develop the next generation of leaders as a Greenwood 4-H Sponsor by encouraging children to develop leadership skills, as well as developing their spiritual growth as a Sunday School teacher at Greenwood Baptist. In her later years, she was a member of FBC Weatherford and the Open Door Sunday School Class.

Bonnie lived her life with integrity and compassion, and will be remembered by many as a source of strength and guidance.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Weatherford, officiated by Lyndale Holloway.
