Burleson William Opton

Burleson William Opton, 76, of Springtown, died Monday, September 17, 2007 at the hospital in Weatherford. Born December 16, 1930 in Austin, Texas, Burl was a resident of Parker County for the last 15 years. He was a meat cutter by trade and loved to go fishing on the coast of Texas. Burleson was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Opton in March of 2000; sisters, Elouise Dodgen, Jacqueline Laney and Nellie Giammalva and a brother Carl Opton. He is survived by his companion, Sue Chester of Springtown; daughters, Rhonda Mauldin and husband Brent of Weatherford and their children, Elizabeth and Ethan Mauldin, Shera Surels and husband Hopper of Springtown and Kerri Thomas and husband Jason of Weatherford and their families; sons, Eric Opton and wife Laura of Lubbock and their children, Ryan and Masen Opton, Raymond Brooks and wife Cathy, David Chester and wife Darenda of Callensville, Ok and Robert Chester and wife Glenda of Springtown and their families; sisters, Etoile Cooper and husband Bob of Port Lavaca and Viva Riley of Port Lavaca; fourteen grandchildren and one great grandson. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, September 21, 2007 at East Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:30-10:00 AM, Friday, prior to the service, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
