Burtie Jean Tilley

Burtie Jean Tilley, aka Mom, Nanny, Grandma and Mother Bird, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022. She was born May 20, 1939, in Buffalo Gap, Texas to Cazy Burts and Eula Emberlin Perry. Burtie was employed by the Texas Pythian Home for 22 years and will be remembered for the cakes she made for every child on their birthday. She was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan, a great cook, sliced tomato connoisseur and a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother that gave love and hugs to everyone. Burtie had a secret recipe for her hot sauce that she was going to pass down to her children...well Mother Bird's hot sauce recipe will forever remain a secret. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ed Tilley and her daughter, Joy Lynn Tilley.  

Burtie is survived by her children, Gary Burts Tilley, Daniel Dale Tilley, Casey VanDoyle Tilley, Susan Christine Tilley and Vonna Jean Tilley; sister, Nannie Jo Ogle and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family members.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm, Monday, January 2, 2022 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.

A graveside service will be at 3:30 pm, Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Bosley Cemetery in Palo Pinto County.
