Carl (Johnny) Wayne Johnson

May 20, 1936 — October 17, 2014

Carl Wayne Johnson, born to Wayne and Elisabeth Sanford Johnson on May 20, 1936 in Memphis, Tennessee, was known by friends and family as Johnny.  Johnny went home to be with our Lord on Friday, October 17, 2014.  He was a long time resident of Parker County and served as a Weatherford Police Officer, and a Parker County Sheriff Deputy before retirement. For the past 16 years, he worked at Victory Baptist Church, in Weatherford, Texas as maintenance man.  He was a loving devoted husband, father, grandparent, uncle, and faithful follower of Jesus Christ. Upon graduation from West Memphis High School in West Memphis, Arkansas, he attended Northwest  Community College in Sanatobia, Mississippi, and then joined the United States Air Force.  He received an associates degree in law enforcement from Tarrant County College.  He was a talented musician and loved to play his drums, harmonica, and sing.  He always told jokes, stories, and enjoyed listening to jazz.  His love for Jesus, Victory Baptist Church, and people in general was contagious. He will be remembered for his kindness, fun spirit, his willingness to help others, and for his giving heart. He is survived by his wife, Martha Cherry Johnson of Weatherford, Texas.His  daughter, Donna and husband Dalton Dupont of Weatherford. His daughter, Denise Brunson of  Ft. Worth, three sons, Daniel Johnson and wife Sheila of Weatherford, Matthew Johnson and wife Cindy of Stephenville, Jason Johnson of Stephenville, six step-children, Bart and wife, Ami Wisdom of Springtown, Natalie and husband Daniel Head of Weatherford, Kevin Link of Cleburne, Kyle Link of San Diego, California, Tonya and husband Michael Murphy of Walnut Creek and Tracy Brown of Poolville, 14 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.


Funeral: 2PM, Tuesday at Victory Baptist Church with interment to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation: 6-8 PM, Monday also at Victory Baptist.
Memorials: Victory Baptist Academy.
