Carmen Walters

April 15, 1940 — November 13, 2015

Carmen Walters, 75, of Weatherford passed away in peace, Friday, November 13, 2015 in her home surrounded by her family. Born in 1940 in New Mexico, she graduated from ASU and moved to Texas by way of San Diego where she met her husband and started their family.
She was a loving wife and mother, an exceptional homemaker, and loyal sister and friend. She served as an administrative assistant at Holy Spirit Church in Duncanville, and later volunteered at Manna Storehouse in Weatherford. Carmen was an avid reader of the latest novels especially mysteries. If her book or Kindle wasn’t in hand, she was pursuing crossword puzzles or shouting the answers while watching her favorite show Jeopardy.
Her passion for music and the arts were shared with her family and included theatre and music performances in Weatherford, Bass Hall or Broadway. And she was always just as happy to dance and sing at home with her four grandsons. She loved to travel with her husband visiting such places as New Zealand, Australia, all of Western and much of Eastern Europe, all of the Americas, and also Russia, China and other Asian countries.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Richard; her daughters Cindy (Jason) and Susan (Chris) and her son, Steve (Molly); and four grandsons: Ethan, Riley, Charlie and Jesse; and by her siblings: Anastacio, Alicia (Onfre), and Martha (Armando).
Carmen believed in supporting others through love, faith and charity. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to her favorite charity: The Red Cloud Indian School, an educational and support institution for grade school through high school students administered by the Jesuits for the Pine Ridge Lakota Indian Reservation. This is an area of extreme poverty. Donate at http://www.redcloudschool.org/donate. Funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 16250 Old Weatherford Road, Aledo, Texas.
The burial service is private.
