Carol Gene Sportsman

Carol Gene Sportsman, age 78, of Weatherford, died early Saturday morning, July 31, 2010 in a local nursing facility.  Born October 5, 1931 in Marceline, Missouri, a resident of Weatherford for several years.  Carol was a retired automobile mechanic, retired from Fort Worth Independent School District and a member of the Bethesda Methodist Church.  He also retired as Gunnery Sgt. From the U. S. Marine Corps where he served in Korea and Vietnam “Semper Fidelas” and he received the outstanding service award.  Survivors:  Daughter – Anita Hankins of Fort Worth; Two Brothers – Gail Sportsman of Bedford Jerry Sportsman of Weatherford; Two Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren.  Graveside service will be held at 9:30 AM, Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at the DFW National Cemetery. Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.  Visitation will be 6-8 PM, August 3, 2010 at the funeral home.
