Charles Albert Fant

Charles Albert Fant, (81), of Brock, Texas peacefully passed away on July 31, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Charles was born to Rochelle and Mary Pearl Fant, on January 20, 1942, in Lipan, Texas. He was a talented artist and craftsman who loved God and loved his family. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing guitar in a band with his friends. He also worked with his brother and dad building homes and buildings that still stand in the Lipan and Granbury area. After graduating high school, Charles opened his own burger drive-in known as the Double C. Over the course of his life, he used his artistic abilities to design and create many amazing things, including canned food labels, signs, board games, playground equipment and much more. Charles became successful early in his artistic career by designing and creating a board game for the television variety show, “Hee Haw”. Later in his career, he owned a sign shop where he enjoyed designing and creating signs for local businesses. However, his greatest accomplishment in life was raising his children whom he adored.

Charles is survived by his wife Kathy and his children, Bret Rickerson, Natalie and Clifford Turner, Chrystal and Eric Cole, Amanda Fant, Dusty and Lisa Fant, and step-children Royce and Randy White. He is also survived by his aunt, Thelma, his brothers and sisters, Janette Fant, Brenda Calhoun, Jesse and Anita Fant and Donne and Allene Fant, along with his beloved grandchildren, Nicole and Marshall Coleman, Colton Turner, Krista Rickerson, Austin Rickerson, Ashley and Colton Bushong, Michelle Hood, Daxton and Rylan Fant, step-grandchildren, his great grandson, Elliott Bushong, two great grandchildren on the way and a host of nephews and nieces. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Rochelle and Mary Pearl Fant, his beloved brother David Fant, nephew Josh Fant and his best friend and pastor, Terrell Taylor.

Besides working hard to provide for his family, Charles was known for his outgoing, loving personality, his silly lingo and nicknames for his kids. Nellie, Crisco, Coley, Cole-train, Rastas McGillicuddy, Yellow Rose of Texas boy, Milford, sweet girl, baby girl, sweet boy, just to name a few. He made everyone laugh and feel loved. From his interesting stories to the silly faces that he made, he had a great ability to make others smile. He had a deep love for God and could not wait to go to heaven to see Jesus and his family. He taught his children to love God and be honest. He loved, with a capital “L” to gather with his family to eat, enjoy bonfires and laugh. These gatherings coined the name “Bashes” and his children loved them as much as he did. He loved to travel with his “sweetheart”, Kathy. He also enjoyed fishing, watching “westerns” and southern gospel music. He was deeply loved by so many and will be truly missed, but we rejoice today knowing that he’s walking on those heavenly streets of gold.

A funeral service honoring Charles will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. The service will be at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel at 913 N Elm St, Weatherford, Texas 76086. The graveside service will be held at East Greenwood Cemetery, 502 E. Water Street, Weatherford, Texas. There will be no visitation service.
