Charles Dean Owens

Charles Dean Owens Sr., 68, of Weatherford, died Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at his residence.  Charlie was born August 5, 1941 in Weatherford where he was a life long resident. He was a former truck driver for AAA Propane. Owens said one of his customers asked him when he was going to finally quit driving the old bobtail and retire. Owens, who maintains this is the best job he's had in his life, wouldn't hear of it. "Why would a fellow want to retire from a job where you get to work out in the fresh air and sunshine and meet new interesting people," he said. "I'm sure as long as I can get in and out of this truck, I'll be doing it."
 
Charlie was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. In 1972 he became a Master Mason of the Fort Worth Lodge.

Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Harmony Baptist Church. Interment in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Friday at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
