Charles Dewayne Tippie

December 7, 1946 — January 10, 2025

Charles Dewayne “Tip” Tippie, 78, of Weatherford, went to be with his Lord on January 10, 2025. He was born in Burnet, Texas, to Charles Ray Tippie and Helen Faye Lynn Tippie, on December 7, 1946. Charles married the love of his life, Candance “Candy” Janell Tippie, on May 7, 1982.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his sister, Sherry Rusinovich; and brother, Kenneth D. Tippie.

Dewayne is survived by his children, Jud Tippie and wife, Amanda, of China Spring, Crissy Smallridge and husband, Michael, of Marlin, Jacob Pickens and wife, Sherri, of Chelsea, Alabama, and Cassie Fulton and husband, Jerry, of Waxahachie; sisters, Janis Clay, of Celina, Regina Holland and husband, Mike, of Jacksboro, and Samantha Tippie, of Cool; grandchildren, Landon, Aiden and Avery Tippie, Rylan and Grant Pickens, Faith Pinkiert, Lindsey Lee, Brittany Hall, and Mackenzie Smallridge; and several nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.

Dewayne was a hard worker from a very young age. He started working at the age of ten as a stocker in the local grocery store. He was a shoeshine boy, worked in a service station, a funeral home, worked for Lacy Feed in Waco, and later in Iowa, sold insurance, laid brick with his dad for many years and worked the majority of his career for Southern Union Gas and Texas Gas, where his last position was to design underground piping lines as the foreman, inspector, and project manager. Only when his health failed him did he retire from the gas industry. He loved working and regretted that he could not continue.

“Tip” enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, long drives on country roads, watching baseball and football, and was a master at trivia. There are people in the world who just make you feel better when they are in the room, and Tip was one of them. He made friends everywhere he went, especially on the golf course. He was a fierce protector of his family (and the occasional stray cat). He loved eating at the Mesquite Pit, and his sense of humor was second to none.

Funeral services will be at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, in Weatherford, on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour before the service. Son in law, Rev. Jerry Fulton, and brother-in-law, Rev. Mike Holland officiating the service. Interment will follow at Holders Chapel Cemetery, near Weatherford.
