A beloved wife, adored sister, loyal friend, wonderful mom, caring nurse and the best “Granny” found her wings on August 20, 2019.
Chavela Jean Lively Hurley was born on March 30, 1954 in Albany, California, the middle sister of three girls.
Chavela attended many different schools but graduated from Brookland, Texas. She attended Cooke County College and graduated with her Bachelor of Nursing. She was an RN at Campbell Memorial Hospital and Palo Pinto General Hospital with a combined 43 years. She was the school nurse for Springtown ISD and Weatherford ISD. Chavela was a dedicated nurse for homecare for two years.
Chavela moved to Weatherford in 1977 after college graduation and met the love of her life, her husband, Michael Hurley. Her passions were her love for her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; music of George Strait, traveling the world and later traveling in the RV with her “traveling buddies” seeing the United States.
She was preceded in death by her parents S.B. and Bernadean(Lasiter) Lively. She is survived by husband Michael Hurley, sons; Barry and Sandy Hurley of Weatherford, Billy and Tina Hurley of Virginia and Brandon and Contessa Hurley of Weatherford, sisters; Charolett and Weldon Chambers of Gatesville and Cherilyn Annette Ferguson of Rising Star; 13 grandchildren; Micha, Amanda, Bailey, Colten, Caleb, Caelyn, Slade, Kelsey, Adisyn, Cambrie, Braylee, Hurley, Hunter and Hannah Livingston, 4 great-grandchildren; Maddie, Stetson and Hudson Hurley, and Bentley Graziano, aunt; Katheryn Lasiter of Oklahoma and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Monday August 26,2019 from 6-8pm at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. A celebration of life will be at 2pm Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Greenwood Baptist Church in Weatherford, Texas.
