Clara Bell Austin

Clara Bell Austin, 90, longtime Parker County resident, passed away on Tuesday morning, December 27, 2016 in Benbrook.

Visitation will be from 7 pm to 9 pm, Monday, January 2, at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Home, 913 N. Elm Street, in Weatherford. A committal service will be held at noon on Tuesday, January 3, at Curtis Cemetery in Weatherford.

Clara was born April 9, 1926, in the Baker Community, Weatherford, Texas, to Elton and Mary Carnes. She married Tom Austin on November 29, 1941 and had two sons, Tim and Larry. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother who was always devoted to the care and support of her family and was always there to offer love and encouragement. She retired from Lockheed Martin after many years on the assembly line.

Clara is survived by her sons, Tim (Donna) Austin of North Richland Hills, TX and Larry Austin of Benbrook; grandchildren, Amy Reale, Robin Dackman, and Chad Gouge; 11 great-grandchildren; brother “Chuck” Carnes; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Austin in 1974 and by her sisters, Nora Mae Gibson, Mary Beth O’Bannon, Bula Dugan, and Eula Moore.
