Claude “Bud” Freeman, 89, passed from Earth on January 12, 2024, in Weatherford, Texas. He was born September 7, 1934, in Knox County, to Claude Charles Freeman and Irene Parker Freeman. They moved to Weatherford when he was 3 years old, and he spent most of his life there.
Bud met Alyce Bailey Freeman while attending North Texas University, and they were married September 29, 1956. He operated Weatherford Battery & Electric Co. for 40 years. He served in the United States Army and was a 50-year member of Knights of Pythias. Bud was a member of Trinity Bible Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and genealogy.
Bud is survived by son, Mitchell and his wife, Marcy; daughter, Nina and her husband, Mike Bodayle; grandsons, Colin Bodayle, Bryn Bodayle, Jarrett Freeman, and Taylor Freeman; nephew, Ronnie Warren and his wife, Penny; niece, Jayme Warren Parks; and friend, Joann Sullivan.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Alyce; sister, Wanda; and long-time friend, Dodie Sullivan.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and the funeral ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2024, both at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086; burial to follow at East Greenwood Cemetery.
