Clem Lee Smith, age 83, passed from this life Friday, April 16, 2021. Clem was born January 15, 1938, to Matt Earl and Frankie Crawford Smith.
He was a retired Former Deputy Chief of Police Department serving the Weatherford Community for many decades. Clem continued his service to the city as a City Councilman. He had a passion for golf and played in many local and area tournaments. Clem loved being involved with youth sports as a referee and umpire. He especially enjoyed being the longtime coach of the Chiefs, the Optimist Club’s pee wee football team. He was a member of the Prince Memorial CME Church.
Clem is survived by his daughter, Sharon Berry and husband, John of El Paso; sons, Louis Smith of Arlington, Alan Smith of Fort Worth, Carl Smith and wife, Vicky of San Antonio, John Smith of Fort Worth, Leonard Smith and wife, Jondwalyn of Duncanville; sister, Etta Ruth Scott of Weatherford; sister-in-law, Jane Haley and husband, Curtis of Fort Worth; 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and longtime friends.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, with the funeral ceremony beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at East Greenwood Cemetery.
