Clyde H. "Goob" Bell

July 18, 1926 — February 6, 2012

Clyde Harmon Bell, 85, passed away February 6, 2012 at home after a battle with Alzheimer’s.  Clyde, known as “Goob”, was born in O’Donnell, Texas July 18, 1926 to Doc and Amanda Bell.  At the age of three, Clyde’s family moved back to the family home at Brock. Clyde finished High School at Brock and went to Weatherford College one semester before he was drafted into the Army.  He served in Korea where he took Rheumatoid Arthritis, was sent back to Arkansas and later was given a medical discharge. Clyde married Alena Thomas October 9, 1948. He was working for Civil Service at Fort Wolters when the Doctor ordered a medical retirement.  His job was with Roads and Grounds so most of the roads on Fort Wolters he built. He loved to fish and hunt quail with his bird dogs.  Anyone that knew him has heard his fish stories. Clyde was a member of the Brock Baptist Church. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Doc and Amanda Bell, three brothers; M.W., Bill and Carl Bell and one sister, Deloris Knight. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Alena; two sons, Gary Bell and wife, Brenda and Roy Don Bell and wife, Dora; three grandchildren, Jake Bell and wife, Kassie, Whitney Saathoff and husband, Jeremy and Hunter Bell all of Brock and six great grandchildren; three sisters, Joyce Walker of Brock, Norma Gill and husband Don of Dennis and Gloria Sears of Abilene and a host of other family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM, Thursday at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel with Mike Cunningham and Arnold Pitchford officiating. Visitation is from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Brock Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jimmy Long, Don Searsy, Larry Searsy, Ralph Walker, John Tyre and Troy Ranspot. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Brock Community Center or Cemetery or a charity of choice.
