Mack Martin, age 89, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2021, in Weatherford, Texas. He was born September 19, 1931. Mack was a lifelong resident of Parker County. He was a Korean War veteran. Mack spent countless hours serving his community and volunteering his time with the Noon Lions Club. He spent 20 plus years with the Weatherford Volunteer Fire Department serving in the capacity as fire chief for many of those years. Mr. Martin started his career with the Texas Highway Department. He owned and operated the Gulf service station on South Main for several years, always fair and honest when helping others. From there he started his career with the Weatherford Independent School District, first as the Auto Mechanic teacher before becoming the Transportation Director until his retirement. At this point he opened a shop at home doing inspections and mechanic work. Mack was always working up until the last months of his life. He was a private pilot for a time. He loved to fish and farm but most of all he just loved to work. Mr. Martin was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church in Millsap. He was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peanut and Clora Martin, and his beloved wife, Lillie.
He is survived by his children, Mike Warren of Quinlin, Belinda Dudley of South Mayde, and Lynn Martin of Peaster; grandchildren, Ronnie Dee Davidson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Jeremy Rutenschroer of Millsap; and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Bandit, and special close family friend, Travis Carr, of Weatherford.
Mack will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday, August 6, 2021, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel; Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday morning in Curtis Cemetery.
