In loving memory, Curtis Wade Smith, 86, a longtime resident of San Angelo and Wichita Falls went to his heavenly home on Monday, July 23, 2012.
Curtis was born on March 31, 1926 in Denver, Colorado. Curtis was a member of the Church of Christ.
He graduated from Sul Ross University with a Bachelors of Science and a Masters of Arts from Texas A&M. Curtis retired as a Captain of Tom Green County, a secondary science teacher in San Angelo, and from the United States Marine Corp, which he was most proud. He was a 1st Sergeant, served in the Okinawa and Korean War for a total of 40 years of service.
Curtis was a dedicated father to his son. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing with is son, nephews, and family. He was an avid sports fan especially of Nascar Racing.
He is survived by Pollye Smith; a son, Curtis Glynn and his wife, Sherri all of Weatherford; five grandchildren, Michelle Smith and her husband, Drew of Edmonton, Canada, Anthony (Tony) Smith and Krystal Smith of Belton, Texas, Krystle Morgan and Joshua Morgan of Weatherford; two great-grandchildren, Chandler Morgan and Betheny Couch of Weatherford.
There will be no visitation.
The family will have a private memorial service at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the South Main Church of Christ.
