Denzell Bruce Kongable

July 20, 1915 — April 20, 2008

Denzell Bruce Kongable, 92, a retired tool planner for General Dynamics passed away on Sunday April 20, 2008, at his residence. He was born July 20, 1915, in Winfield, Iowa, to Ellis and Florence Kongable. 

Mr. Kongable worked at aircraft plants in California and Wichita, Kansas before starting work at Convair (General Dynamics) in 1947. He moved to Aledo in 1951 to dairy and raise cattle while working for General Dynamics. He retired from G.D. in 1977 and continued raising cattle until his death. 

Denzell served as a member of the City Council of Annetta South during the cities beginning years. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Aledo since 1952 where he served as a Deacon. He was named Deacon Emeritus in 2000. Mr. Kongable loved being with his family especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a joyful person well known for his trademark laugh. 

Denzell was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters, and his wife, Margaret Kongable. 

Survivors: Daughter, Karen Goodpaster and husband, Jerry of Aledo; son, Skip Kongable and wife, Linda of Aledo; sisters, Evalyn Bock of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Pauline Coberley of Wayland, Iowa, June Martin of Mt Pleasant, Iowa, Corene McMillen of Clinton, Tennessee, Eleanor Schneider of Wapello, Iowa, Vergene Lathrum of Gardner, Kansas; brother, Bob Kongable of Newark, Texas; five grandchildren, Monty Goodpaster and wife, Anna, Tambi Williams and husband, Doug, Clayton Kongable, Christina Huddleston, and Richard Martin; and eight great-grandchildren, Brandi, Jenni, Kevin, Clinton, J.C., Dalton, Ashlyn, and Kinsley. 

Funeral Service will be at 1st Baptist Church, in Aledo, on Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Aledo Brown Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home. 

Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel are in charge of arrangements.
