Dollie Gertrude McGrath

February 4, 1916 — November 24, 2010

McGrath – Dollie Gertrude Mathews McGrath, 94, died on November 24, 2010, in Texas.  She was the wife of the late James Bernard McGrath and daughter of the late John Reeves Mathews and Dollie Dodson Goodson Mathews.  She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School with a Latin Diploma and from Hawthorns. Mrs. McGrath was an active life long volunteer, member or officer of numerous organizations including: S and S Club, Les Mysteries, Alert Study Club, Charter Member of IKEA Bona, Listener’s Club, Women’s Club, Mint Museum Club, Girl Scout Council, Life Member of Crepe Myrtle Garden Club, Charter Member of World War II Memorial, Duke of Gloucester Society, and First Presbyterian Church. 

She is survived by her daughters:  Mrs. John Boyd Edmunds [Judy], Mrs. B. Wellford Marshall [Dollie], and Mrs. Gary C. Osborne [Carol]; nieces and nephews,  Ms. Peggy Snow,  Mrs. Raymond Cox, Ronald Larkin and Michael Larkin; five grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice or charity of one’s choice.

A graveside service will be held in the St. Margaret‘s section of Oakwood Cemetery, Montgomery, Alabama  at 11 o’clock on Saturday, January 22, 2011 with Reverend Michael Howell from Trinity Presbyterian Church officiating. 

Visitation will follow the service at graveside.
