Dolphus Claude Berry, 81, passed away on June 5, 2024, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Dolphus was born on July 16, 1942, in Weatherford, Texas, to the late Jack Claude Berry and Cora Lee (Owen) Berry. After graduating from Weatherford High School, Dolphus briefly worked as a pipefitter before enlisting in the United States Navy, where he proudly served from 1964 to 1967.
After his military service, he pursued a career and was dedicated to his work. A skilled machinist, Dolphus was a drill press operator at Perry Equipment and earned an Associates of Machining from Weatherford College in 1984. He later worked at the Weatherford Wal-Mart Supercenter and retired in 2020 after 25 years in the Garden Center.
In his free time, Dolphus enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting. He was also a skilled 42 player and had an extensive DVD collection.
Dolphus will be remembered by his son, Jon Berry of Fort Worth; sister, Cora Sue (Berry) Fields and brother-in-law, Charles Fields of Brackettville; nephew, Duste Fields of Arlington; brother, Joe Don Berry; sister-in-law, 3C Berry; niece, Adrin Berry; and nephew, Orin Berry - all of Graford.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude towards the staff of Serenity Estates Assisted Living and Gentiva Hospice for their care of Dolphus in his last months.
Dolphus will be lying in state at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, in Weatherford, Texas, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, June 8, 2024 and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m, Sunday, June 9, 2024.
A ceremony to honor Dolphus will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 10, 2024, at Memory Gardens Cemetery, in Weatherford, Texas.
