Dona Lee Reeves, 85, passed away on May 12, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering strength, grace, and boundless passion. Born on March 31, 1938, in Racine, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of Bert R. and Grace Fritchen Ellis. Dona spent her early years in Wisconsin before relocating to Texas in 1969 with her daughter, Carrie Jacqueline Reeves Long, in pursuit of her passion for showing quarter horses.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law (James Wayland Long) and cherished grandchildren, Libby Long Eisenbarth (husband Ethan Eisenbarth), Abby Long (husband Tyler Forest Moore), and Binion Long, as well as her nieces, their families, and her dearest friends.
She found joy in gardening, ranching, raising quarter horses, running cattle, her faith in God, and collecting antiques. Her elegance and poise were matched only by her strong work ethic and her passionate pursuit of her many interests. She was preceded in death by her brother, David William Ellis, and her parents, whom she dearly missed. Her kindness, wit, and generosity will be remembered by all who knew her.
Per her wishes, the family is laying her to rest during a private graveside service at Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery in Weatherford, Texas.
