Donald Paul Barnett, 73, passed peacefully in his sleep early on the morning of February 8, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Don was born to Robert Lee and Norma Elizabeth (nee Bates) Barnett, on April 16, 1951, in Littlefield, Texas.

Following his military service in the United States Navy, Don spent 37 years with General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin as an electrical engineer.

His free time was spent in nature, enjoying hobbies like hiking, camping, and canoeing. Don made countless priceless memories with his family and friends enjoying the great outdoors. Many of these unforgettable moments he captured on film, as he was also a talented and prolific photographer.

It is an understatement to say he was also an avid animal lover, and was preceded in death by a host of adoring dogs, and a myriad of appreciative wild critters of all shapes and sizes.

Don is survived by his long-time partner and soulmate, Deborah Lynn (nee Davis) Smith, as well as his daughter, Kelsey Paige Barnett and son-in-law, Robert Owen-Miller; siblings, Shirley and Tommy Stevens, Robert Neal Barnett, and Richard and Cindy Barnett; step-children, Joshua Jay Smith, Kevin Michael Smith, Patricia Marian (nee Smith) and Christopher Edward Thornley; and grandchildren, Aaron Michael and Kaylee Elyzabeth Smith, Jace Allen and Krislynn Marian Thornley, and eagerly awaited Baby Thornley; as well as his ex-wife, Ordana Lynn Barnett.

His kindness and warmth will be missed by all who knew him.

In remembrance of Don's life and legacy, a memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Galbreaith Pickard Hilltop Chapel, in Willow Park, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, please send your donations to the World Wildlife Fund at protect.worldwildlife.org.

The service will be followed by a reception for family and friends. Please join us at The Magnolia, 1101 W. Magnolia Ave, Fort Worth, Texas 76104 for refreshments from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
