Donald (Corky) Clinton Connaway

Donald C. (Corky) Connaway, born May 9th,1950, in Weatherford, Texas, passed away peacefully Friday, December 9th, 2022, surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Connaway; children, Clint Connaway and wife, Shaun of Santo, Texas and Ollie Blanchard-Shaver and husband, Eric Shaver of Weatherford, Texas; three grandchildren, Josiah Blanchard, Jaden Blanchard, and Maygan Connaway; one great-grandchild, Cohen "Bub" Blanchard; and one sister, Ann Brown of Temple, Texas; and extended family and friends.

Corky attended Weatherford and Dallas schools. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1968. He earned the rank of a Sergeant and served his country proudly in Vietnam and Germany. After his dedicated service in the military, he met and married his wife, Beverly, on May 9, 1971. He was a title examiner for many years and later became a Landman for the Oil and Gas industry all throughout Texas and Oklahoma.

Corky enjoyed spending his retired life on the Brazos River continuing the 7 generations of ancestors who preceded him. His many passions included restoring old cars, attending car shows, horses, civil war era history and fly fishing. He was extremely proud of his Irish heritage dating back to 1521 in Northern Ireland and enjoyed genealogy research. He loved spending time with his Boston Terrier, Audie, and being PaPa to his grandchildren.

He will be remembered for his patriotism and love for his country and his Irish heritage, his courage, his boldness, his boundless sense of humor, his generosity, and his limitless wisdom.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the Tin Top Cemetery, 112 Old Tin Top Rd, Weatherford, Texas 76087.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Corky's name be made to the Agent Orange-Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund or the American Heart Association.
