Donald Gore

September 23, 1942 — September 6, 2020

Donald Gore, age 77, of Possum Kingdom Lake, passed away at his home on Sunday, September 6, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. Don was born in Tyler, Texas on September 23, 1942 to John and Lucille Gore. He attended Texas A&M in College Station, Texas earning a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and worked in the chemical industry, including his last 30 years with Baytank and Odfjell Terminals until retirement in 2014. Don was a proud Aggie Alumni and took pride in representing his Aggies. 

His hobbies included golf, fishing, hiking, biking, label making, and absolutely anything his grandchildren wanted to do. His story telling was legendary and he always had a joke or a little zinger to entertain his friends and family. 

Don is survived by his wife of 56 years, Miriam Gore of Possum Kingdom Lake; son, Jay Gore and wife, Deanna of Mercer Island, Washington; daughter, Lea Young and husband, Jeff of Willow Park; grandchildren, Alexandra Gore of Niseko, Japan; Chuck Young of Katy, Texas; Brian Young of Fort Worth, Texas; James Young of Willow Park, Texas; and brother, Clarence Gore of Sugarland, Texas. He will be especially missed by all of his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Ben Gore; brother, John Gore; and sister, Louise Best. 

A rosary and mass will be held for family at St. Francis Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, September 18, 2020. A celebration of life will follow at the Cliffs resort at 3:00 p.m., for friends and family. 

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to a charity of individual choice.
