Doris Heidemarie Plowman

September 3, 1943 — January 5, 2025

Doris Plowman, beloved wife, mother, and Grammy, went home to be with the Lord on January 5, 2025, after a courageous journey with cancer. She died peacefully with family by her side. She was born in Karlsruhe, Germany on September 3, 1943. She met her future husband, Rea Plowman, in Germany where he was serving in the U.S. Army. She was an amazing example of a strong, independent woman with the biggest heart and dedication to helping every stray or wild animal that showed up at her door. She was immensely proud of her U.S. Citizenship, and a Red Cross medal awarded to her for her many volunteer hours.

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Sherry Edwards and husband, Donnie Slanker of Haslet; granddaughters, Dr. Amanda Canada of Olympia, Washington, and Erica Walker and husband, Justin of Trophy Club; and great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Stetson, and Brooks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rea; son, Lonnie; and daughter, Sandy Brunton; also, by her parents, Adolf and Elise; her sister, Hildegard; and brother, Edgar, all of whom resided in Germany.

In lieu of flowers, she would have loved a donation to be made to your favorite animal charity, SPCA of Texas, or HSNT.

She will be forever loved and deeply missed. Private Graveside service will be held at the Annetta Cemetery. Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel will oversee arrangements.
