Dorothy "Dot" Yvonne Varnado

Mrs. Dorothy Varnado, age 88, of Weatherford, TX, passed away on Wednesday morning, December 28, 2022, in Weatherford, TX. Dot, as she liked to be called, was born in 1934, to Charles Arthur and Estelle (Colley) Dickerson. She married Donald Earl Varnado on November 15, 1950, in Edna, TX. They were married for 58 wonderful years and were blessed with five children, 28 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Dot was a homemaker most of her life and most recently worked part time at North Side Baptist Church. She was a member of North Side Baptist Church and spoke openly of her faith to everyone she met. Dot was a loving wife and mother, devoting her life to providing a Godly home for her family. Her love for Jesus was evident in everything she did. Her sweet, gentle spirit and hunger for Biblical knowledge shaped her into an excellent Christian leader. She taught many Bible studies and Sunday School classes through the years and served as a sponsor on many youth mission trips. She influenced hundreds of teenagers and young adults with her wisdom and kindness.

Dot is survived by her sister, Wanda Jo Dinklage of La Marque, TX, and by her five children: daughter Andrea Garner and husband Jerald of Denton, TX; son Donald Earl Varnado, Jr. and wife Teri of Denton, TX; daughter Katherine Bradfield and husband Gary of Canton, TX; son John Varnado of Weatherford, TX; and son Keith Varnado and wife Karen of Granbury, TX.

Dot was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, her brother George W. Colley, Jr., and by one granddaughter, Misty Dawn Varnado.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on January 7, 2023, at North Side Baptist Church in Weatherford, TX, with Reverend Van Houser officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Memorial Park in Ft. Worth, TX, at 2:30 p.m.
