Dorothy Marie Williams

April 22, 1934 — June 20, 2018

Dorothy Williams, 84, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at a local nursing home.
Graveside service: 10 a.m. Saturday in Greenwood Community Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the Williams family suggests memorials sent to Greenwood Community Cemetery.
Dorothy Marie Jackson Williams was born April 22, 1934, in Weatherford, daughter of the late Allan and Stella Bantau Jackson. She graduated with the class of 1951 from Weatherford High School and married Claude L. Williams on Jan. 26, 1953. Early in her career, Dorothy worked as a secretary for the PMA which later became the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service. After her children began elementary school, she began working as a bookkeeper for Dairyman’s Feed Store and retired after many dedicated years in 1979.
She was very family and community oriented and was a member of the Home Extension Club, treasurer of the PTA and Athletic Booster Clubs at Millsap ISD. Dorothy was also the church secretary and substitute pianist for many years at Beulah Baptist Church where she was a longtime member. She also enjoyed traveling with her family and later with the Texas Bank traveling club. An avid photographer, cruciverbalist (crossword puzzle solver), and an accomplished scrapbooker.
Dorothy was a devoted and caring wife to her husband Claude L. of 43 years when he passed away in 1996. She was also a loving and supportive mom to their three children, Norma, Ted, and Carol and two grandchildren, Thad and Stacy.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Claude L. Williams; and her parents, Allen and Stella Jackson.
Survivors include her children, Norma Williams, Ted Williams and wife, Debbie, and Carol Walden, all of Weatherford; grandchildren, Thad Williams and wife, Staci, of Weatherford and Stacy Walden and fiancé, Courtland Jones, of Pflugerville; brother, Claude Jackson and wife, Anna, of Weatherford; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces; great-nephews; great-great-nieces; great-great-nephews; and a host of loving friends.
